Our final league trip this season takes us to close neighbours Leiston.
https://flynn123.wordpress.com/?s=Leiston+fc

Following our victory v Stratford and Leistons defeat at Tamworth the possibility remains that we could still yet finish above them.
So lots of bragging rights up for grabs.😎.

When Glenn Driver and Tony Kinsella quit Leiston in October 2018 they were vying for a play off place. The exodus of both management team and players since, has seen them tumble down the league and they now sit only 2 places above us in their worst league position since 2015/16.

They haven't achieved a victory at home in five games; their last three points came in a 2-0 win v Alvechurch back in February!
In fact they haven't won a league game in 9!
So now would seem to be a good time to rock up at Victory Road and avenge that New Years Day defeat at the Meadow......http://www.lowestofttownfcfansforum.co.uk/cgi-bin/Forum/YaBB.pl?num=1546179395

Our record at Leiston over the past few seasons ......
2017/18 Isthmian Won 1-0
2016/17 Isthmian Won 2-1
2013/14 Isthmian Won 1-0
2012/13 Isthmian Drew 0-0

You have to go back to when we were both members of the ECL to find a league win for Leiston against us at Victory Road.

So on paper this looks like a very winnable game but Suffolk derbies are rarely predictable affairs and I'm expecting a closely fought encounter.
Both sides will probably feature players that have turned out for both clubs and could an on fire Jake Reed be the difference that will settle this one? As has happened so often in the past old boys come back and haunt you.

See you all there👍

PS .... Whatever happened to Leiston fan blueroy who was a regular contributor to these pages in the not so distant past?🤔.

FYI for todays game extra parking will be available at the site of the former Leiston middle School on Waterloo Road, a short walk from Leiston FC.

4 goals and Jake did not get on the score sheet. I imagine that Leiston overmarked him and forgot about the rest of the team. A win next week and we will be top of the form, irrespective of other results. Well done to the squad and management, a mid table finish is possible.

Two goals in each half were enough to see off a distinctly lacklustre Leiston and propel us up to 16th place in the table. In front of 400 plus crowd swelled by the ranks of visiting support Lowestoft brushed aside their Suffolk neighbours and more than made up for the New Years defeat at the Meadow.

The first 15 minutes saw the home side well on top but their domination came to nought in the face of a well drilled Lowestoft defence marshalled by Tann and Deeks.
Fisk was busy all game and as the minutes ticked by, he and Barker dominated the midfield proceedings. Leiston were reduced to shots from range and their efforts were inaccurate and off target virtually all game.

Garnham was certainly the busier of the two keepers and was left with no chance when Scharr volleyed in unopposed from 10 yards out on 18 mins.

Tann popped up with a second some ten minutes later as Lowestofts line effectively led by Reed piled on the pressure. Tann was most surprised to net, as Reed caused havoc in the home defence with some deft footwork and a stinging cross from the left, ricocheted off our Number 5s thigh past a helpless home keeper. HT 0-2

The second half followed a similar pattern with Lowestoft dominating the ball and setting up chance after chance. Bammant was guilty of one glaring miss from 8 yards out when he ballooned the football over the bar with only Garnham to beat.

The third came on 77 mins, when in attempting to clear another away raid, a Leiston defender was adjudged to have handled in the box, and Deeks blasted home the resulting penalty. Zielonka who was introduced on the hour mark for a tiring Tann wrapped matters up when he was put clear by Reed and finished smartly past a rather disgruntled looking Garnham on 90 minutes.
The home keeper had every reason to be upset with the defensive cover in front of him as they had little answer to a provider Reed who ran them ragged all afternoon. Our Number 9 didn't feature on the scoresheet today and that was due to Garnham bringing off a great save in the first half that denied Reed.
Garnham also kept the score down to four when he tipped away Williams scorching drive late on.

In summary the 4-0 scoreline did not flatter the visitors as this was one of the poorest Leiston sides I've seen in years. Conceding nine in the past two games tells its own story.

So that's three wins on the spin for Jamie Godbolds charges with possibly more to come next weekend when an already relegated Bedworth come calling.

FT: Leiston 0-4 Lowestoft Town
Att; 431.

Thanks for the match review Ronsdog.

A very enjoyable game to watch with town growing into the game following a lively start from the hosts. A couple of changes to the line up from the win against Stratford and town cruised to a 4-0 win, without Reedy getting on the score sheet for once! Elvijs made some important saves once again but this game capped off a memorable Easter weekend of success and see us moving away from the bottom 4. Lets now taget the 50+ points taget and finish off the season with a hat trick of wins and give the retiring Smudge the send off he deserves.
