Kings Lynn (H) 27/082018

The trawlerboys welcome Norfolk neighbours Kings Lynn Town to the Amber Dew Events Stadium for this August bank holiday clash. This game must mark the first league encounter between these two teams since the days of the Jewson league. (Suggestions welcome as to when this actually was! Although I will try and find out today).

The home team will be hoping to build on their impressive and hard fought 3-1 win at Stratford Town 2 days previous, whilst the visitors will be anxious to get their wobbly start to the season under way and take 3 points back up the A47 after a 0-0 draw against st. Neots at The Walks. https://www.kltown.co.uk/single-post/2018/08/26/Linnets-fire-a-blank-during-goal...

The game will see the return of familiar faces such as Fraser Blake-Tracy, Rory Mcauley and Ryan Jarvis as they look set to line up for the visitors

Hopefully there will be a sizeable crowd in attendance, a good turnout for the coffers and good pitch conditions after the soaking it got yesterday afternoon. So I anticipate a good entertaining match between both teams looking to bag some early season Norfolk/Suffolk bragging rights.

Come on you blues!!

1-0 and the bragging rights are ours😎

A good balanced commentary from Norfolk Radio, summed up with...."Lowestoft did what they had to do once they got the lead"

I can't recall Puttnins having to make a save. Three wins on the spin and thanks to other results going our way we sit in 5th spot tonight.👏

Happy days.😄👍

Elvisj made plenty including one point blank with his feet, he had an excellent game, commanding with good safe hands.
GUTSY that's probably the best description of today, against a decent side whose style of play made our lads work extremely hard. it's great to see the enthusiasm of youth reinvigorating the shall we say 'more senior'  players and through a couple of dreadful misses, some ambitious strikes and a bit of luck an unlikely three points were dug out.

It had a proper derby feel with the healthy away support  swelling the numbers and a few ex blues in opposition, stirring up the home fans with every tackle and there plenty of them today , Fisky was in his element and probably my standout for sheer tenacity alone.

Fair play to Jaimie and Andy they already look a cohesive unit even though some are being pressed into less favoured positions, the old adage , for the good of the team is ceratinly true. Its great to watch the team grow so quickly, the gates will surely keep ahead of target with days like this , its all good so far, but it is only august !

Lowestoft 1-0 Kings Lynn Town
Att 750

Easily the most enjoyable game to watch so far at home - a big boisterous crowd one to swell the coffers with thankfully a good all round entertaining game for them to witness for those in attendance. The trawlerboys bossed the first half with the breezy west to north west wind in their favour and for the hard work of the visiting keeper only had a one goal advantage to take into the break. The second half was a much more even affair and with the visitors looking to find their way back into the game, as the half wore on it was a stoic town defence which kept the win safe.

The first half was entertaining enough, town took the game to their Norfolk neighbours with wave after wave of attacking moves and on 12 minutes Ben Fowkes slotted home the games only goal between the legs of a Lynn defender to put the trawlerboys into the lead

Over the course of the game a mention must go to Fisk for his tackling amonst a few others such moves helped to smother any threat the visitors made on the home goal. Late on Putnins made a vital saves to keep the points safe, Rossi at the back marshalled a sold back line with Curry and smudger delivering some confident passes to the midfield and above. Up top Higgs and Bammo kept the visiting defence busy and fowkes pace combined with Higgs kept the visitors occupied. At the start of the first half Pollock came on for Shaar to bolster the back line then later on the fresh legs of Wren made up for Fowkes who had worked hard all match.

The visitors pressed harder as the second half wore on and it felt like a long 45 minutes as the ref blew for full time the reaction from the crowd said it all, an applause that im sure could be heard both sides of Lake Lothing.

FA cup draw out tomorrow i believe so we will know who we face on Saturday week, before then Bedworth Town, on the receiving end of a 5-1 drubbing from league pace setters Kettering await our visit next Saturday.
