Lowestoft 4-0 Waveney.

A good run out for town for this Brian Gallagher Memorial cup match. With 3 trialists playing, one of which, number 11 (Ish Fatajio) bagging 2 goals with a goal each for Cion Wren and Jacek Zielonka. A decent crowd taking advantage of free entry and the chance to get back to the Amber Dew on a fine sunny evening and forget about the disappointment of the World cup 24 hours previously.

The game opened and continued with some good passing moves giving the players game time to gel together. Ish opening the scoring with Wren adding a second later on in the first half.

Half time saw 6 changes with the introduction of Smith, Fisk, Zielonka, Schnaar, Bammant, on for Deeks, Fletcher,Pollock, Wren, Ingram and the number 8 trialist.

Second half saw Ish bag his second goal but cream of the crop was a superb strike from Jacek, which stole the show a screamer from 30 yards out into the top corner. Bammo should have got a goal on a couple of occasions late on but was thwarted by the woodwork.

Our third trialist of the night (number 10 whose name i cant trace) made some great pacey runs down the left wing and linked up well with smithy in the second half and put some good crosses in. Be interesting if we will see number 10 and 11 put pen to paper, on tonight's performance i wouldn't complain.

Putnins, Deeks, Cole, Curry, Fletcher, Pollock, Wren, Ingram no8, no10, no11 (3 trialists).

subs; Johnson(?) Smith, Zielonka, Fisk, Schnaar, Bammant, Overy

No 10 was the pick for me, good feet, close ball control and paced, always willing to take on defenders. Be interesting to see how he manages against better defences. For a first outing, with so many new faces it was a good run out. Controlled passing, plenty of pace and good football.

Today we welcome Soham Town Rangers - Admission is 'pay what you like'

The ground will be open from 12.30pm to meet the players, visit the supporters fundraising bar and barbecue and listen to the club’s new sound system courtesy of The Saturday Gig! Paul Hammond will be DJing for an hour between 1.30 - 2.30 so come and check out the music, lights and facilities!

The game will be 'pay what you like' so spend as little or as much as you like, grab a burger and watch the Trawlerboys in action as they kick off at 3pm.

Not really, ever the optimist, glass half full. Only the second time most of the squad have lined up together. Remember our conference promotion season, we lost a pre- season friendly to Dereham, then a step 5 team, 7-1 at the Meadow. We will probably lose more than we win but my expectations are more about the squad developing to retain step 3 status and no more.

I really hope that you are  right, but I think that there is a huge amount of wishful thinking in your views

Lowestoft Town 1-1 Ipswich Town U23. Attendance 282.

Lowestoft Town welcomed Ipswich to a warm and dry Amber Dew Events Crown Meadow Stadium and played an entertaining 90 minutes between them, under the watchful gaze of new Ipswich manager Paul Hurst. As I just alluded to, it was overall entertaining game to watch, with two side full of young players eager for the ball as expected Ipswich always presented the greater threat and went into the half time break 1-0 up after an unmarked tap in from close range after 15 minutes but the Trawlerboys did have spells where they held most of the possession, early on in the second half this was rewarded

At the back Cole, Pollock, the number 3 wearing trialist Matt Brown and Tann were working hard and Brown, another young player with good skills on the ball and a bit of pace looked good down the wing, complementing Fowkes well in the process.

In the middle the familiar faces of Fisk and Zielonka put in good shifts, Fisk still managing to put in some good tackles but had to be careful when tackling, in judging the speed of the younger pacier players of Ipswich. Smith was named in the starting line up but was replaced by Schaar early on presumably injured in the warm up(??).

Putnins seems to get better and better and had a great game making a few very good saves, and knows and communicates his back line well too. Fowkes again looked promising and capped a strong performance with a well taken goal to make it 1-1, a similar effort just before half time went just wide of the goal. If we can sign him up he'd compliment Ingram and Bammant really well.

Onwards to Gorleston this Saturday, should be another entertaining game with another handy 90 minutes to add for the players.

Teams;

Lowestoft; Putnins, Cole, Trialist (Matt Brown), Pollock, Tann, Smith, Zielonka, Fisk, Bammant, Ingram, Fowkes.

Subs- Wren, Overy, Fletcher, Schaar, Trialist.

Ipswich; Wright, Cotter, Webber, McGavin, Marshall, Ndaba, Fulami, Crowe, Drinan, Lankester, Roberts

subs- Dobra, Ware, Scott, El Mizanzi, Clements, Brown
