Supporters meeting - Sat 2nd June, 11am
29th May, 2018 at 6:32pm

The club can finally confirm a supporters meeting next Saturday 2nd June 2018 starting at 11am

The board of directors along with many others have been working tirelessly behind the scenes over these past few weeks gathering all the relevant information, and would like to thank everyone for their patience during these tough times.

The meeting will take place in the club house next Saturday morning and we look forward to seeing you to discuss the current financial situation and plans going forward. Doors open at 10.45am.

On the stroke of eleven am this morning, around 75 expectant fans crammed into the clubhouse bar. Some full of hope, and others trepidation, of what was about to be delivered by the 'new' board of directors.

Notable absentees and sadly missed were Shirley and Paul Whitlow.

GK opened proceedings and introduced those that were scheduled to speak.
Sam Hossack , Terry Lynes, Terry Beamish, Alan Green and the recently installed financial director Mark Kemp. It was also announced that Helen Nixon had joined the board along with Colin xxxxx?  I'm sure somebody else in attendance can supply the gentlemans surname as I struggled with the acoustics and the often fading microphone.

This is by no means a unique scenario as far as I'm concerned. Having just sat through two weeks of jury service at Southwark Crown, along with other fellow jurors, I struggled to catch every spoken, or rather mumbled, word. A consequence of ageing audio receptors possibly!!

Anyways Alan Green spoke next, confirming the current situation regarding the ground ownership and opportunities that have arisen in the past, and that have since been rejected. A carbon copy of the statement that the board issued on May 10th

Gary then began to reel out the list of the clubs creditors.......as at 31/05/2018

HMRC £25k
Suppliers £38k

Barclays Bank £11k (Account suspended. Alternative arrangements currently being sought)

Players/Management £28k
(a repayment plan has been actioned and expected to be completed by 15/08/18)

Loan £11k (taken out to pay wages earlier this year)

Total Approx £113k

Well, the need is clear, if not stark in its reality.
Mark Kemps input was both pragmatic and forthright. He stressed the need to cut costs and increase revenue. Oh for a long overdue FA Cup run.
A budget for 2018/19 season has been agreed and is based on assumptions of gates no more than 250 per game. A sensible assumption, as any additional income can then immediately be used for debt relief.

Along with 2018/19 expected sponsors income which Sam Hossack outlined in his report (the club is also currently owed £12k from last season), game/ball/player enquiries are already being fielded so income streams can be expected once the playing squad is assembled.

Two players remain under contract Rory McAuley and Travis Cole.
Andy Reynolds was on hand to give his appraisal of the task that he and Jamie Godbold face. His upbeat manner didn't mask his realisation that the challenge is daunting.

As our Assistant addressed the fans the Manager was reportedly speaking with a number of potential local recruits. 40 or so players are under scrutiny currently.
With a playing budget much reduced from that which even Ady Gallagher had at his disposal, our management duo are well aware that this job is one of monumental proportions.

It was generally an upbeat but realistic mood that descended as the meeting was thrown open to questions from the floor.

Ady Gallagher made an passionate intervention when he called for better communications from the clubs custodians to the (shrinking) fan base.
Other contributors questioned the Ltd Company model and offered Lewes FC as a template for a future club structure.

The board readily accepted AGs point and resolved to improve this rather neglected side of their management remit. GK also remarked that any credible alternative fan led initiative would be considered. He also reported that the next full set of accounts can be expected to be published in December 2018.

On that note the meeting ended.

Thanks.
Shirley and myself are stuck in Berlin following the cancellation of our flight.
