Hendon (H) 10/04/2018
9th Apr, 2018 at 5:42pm

High flying Hendon are tomorrow nights visitors to the amber Dew events Stadium. Currently sitting 4th, the visitors will be looking to secure a place in the play-offs whilst the Trawlerboys will be desperate to find at least a point to put some daylight between them and the bottom of the league spot.Previously, the visitors battled to a 4-3 with at Worthing on Monday https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7C6Z405tV2c&feature=youtu.be the same day Town fell to a disappointing 2-0 defeat at Brightlingsea.

Earlier this season a trip saw us bring back a point following a 1-1 draw, Jake Reed giving town the lead http://www.lowestofttownfcfansforum.co.uk/cgi-bin/Forum/YaBB.pl?num=1519156884 having lost our cutting edge up front it will be difficult to see us coming away with anything from this if we fall behind, it will be down to the defence to contain the likes of Nico Muir and co. Will wait with baited breath for the starting line up and the formation but if we want to make any sort of progress against the teams we play against, then we have to cut out the silly passes that give possession away.

Tomorrow night is also the final home game when you can vote for your supporters first team player of the season. You can still email your votes to trawlerboysmembership@gmail.com until April 14th.

Above all hoping for another good crowd to turn up and get behind the club and the players on the pitch.

Come on you blues!!

I was speaking to a few Hendon contacts today (they are trying to sign my son for next season) and they (Hendon) were seemingly outstanding on Saturday against Worthing.

Prepare yourselves for an onslaught was the word.

Many people were in the run up to game at the Folkestone a few weeks back but as it turned out.... despite the disappointing end to that.

Really? Well - Folkestone are also a high flying team like Hendon, it was a difficult long away trip on a midweek, many people were worried there would be a one sided goal avalanche, but thankfully not and a shame we didn't sneak a point that night.

A small amount of rain overnight but I'm sure there are no issues with the pitch and the status of tonights game. Forecast for today looks overcast but dry.

See you all there this evening!

1-0 up at HT, thanks to a late Hodd goal, having been under some pressure all half.

Mmm, this has echoes of the Folkestone game.

Can we hold the advantage until full time?

FT Lowestoft 2-1 Hendon Att 305.

https://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/match/2017-2018/isthmian-football-league-prem...

A very much improved performance on those we've seen at home in recent weeks!

Town were energetic all over the park, defended hard with a couple of goal line clearences in the first half keeping the scores to 0-0. Town also came forward with a new sense of confidence, utilising the skill and speed of Southend loanee Batlokwa, who showed some good first touches and skill on the ball.

Just before half time town went in front, Harvey Hodd putting away a rebound the Hendon keeper failed to hold from an original, slightly deflected shot from outside the area. The celebrations showed how much it meant to the players.

Early in the second half Hendon drew level from a fierce shot from Joseph and this seemed to revitalise the visitors, who had a number of corners with town seemingly unable to escape their own half. On the 70th minute a run forward from Batlokwa saw a nice 1-2 exchanged with (I cant remember who...) which wrong footed the Hendon defence allowing him to shoot home putting town 2-1 to the delight of the home crowd. Town weathered what was thrown at them with some great defending throughout and 6 minutes of injury time shown at the end was met with gasps of disbelief! Thankfully we came through that unscathed to take a valuable, precious 3 points.

Phew...

Wasn't the cleanest of matches, quite physical with 7 yellow cards dished out on the night, several balls out of the ground too.

Overall a great morale booster for the players, management and fans alike, as there is little time to rest now before our trip to Harrow Borough on Thursday evening. Come on you blues!!
