Wingate & Finchley (H) 13/03/2018

Late preview this evening but I'm already fearing, like many others that this already rearranged game may well have to be rearranged again... going on the constant rain we've had for the last 4 hours (and counting). It is indeed hosing it down so expect a pitch inspection at some point tomorrow morning or midday. Fate yet again seems to have it in for LTFC, desperate to get games on to get some income through the turnstiles and bar.

For our visitors, believe it or not sit below Town in the form league, with not much in it, both teams have won one, drawn 2 and lost 3 in the last 6 with town only finding the net 4 times, three of those coming in the home game to Enfield, who got their revenge last Saturday, the same day Wingate came unstuck against Thurrock. https://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/isthmian-football-league-premier-division/for...

The reverse fixture at the end of January saw town squander a 3-1 half time lead to come away with nothing following a 4-3 defeat; http://www.lowestofttownfcfansforum.co.uk/cgi-bin/Forum/YaBB.pl?num=1517162793

So its fingers crossed this rain does one. There is a fundraising meeting scheduled in the clubhouse for 6:30pm to whoever can make it.

Player of the season voting forms will also be available to those who have already made their minds up - but you have until April 10th to do that (weather permitting!).

If the game is on, hope to see you all there as we need to get those crowds back up and get behind our club!

Come on you blues!!!!!!

Rain has just stopped (4:00 am) but I agree with Jimbo, it must be doubtful. Driving around yesterday there was lots of water lying around everywhere in North Suffolk, the upper Waveney is filling up the flood plain and the ground must be saturated.
The weather radar and forecast show that matters shouldn't get worse during the day though, so we should know early morning whether the match will be on.
Tickets are printed, and vouchers to welcome Finchley supporters to Lowestoft are to hand.
I'm off to Birch Quarry now, (Colchester) and won't be back until 19:00, probably, so I'll look on here for information during my tachograph breaks.

'Lowestoft Town boss Dale Brooks urges fans to come out and support club in their time of need'

“I would just urge supporters to get to as many home games as they can because that is what will make the difference for us,” he said. “We’ve got five home games left this season and we would love supporters to come out to all five obviously. But even if they can only make a couple, every penny is going to count for us.

“We’ve been asking the players to help us but we can’t do this without the supporters’ help.”

This rearranged game sees Wingate and Finchley visit the Amber Dew Events Stadium, with town mathematically safe from relegation and a sense of urgency and pressure for points all but lifted from our shoulders following a superb win at the plod last Saturday. Time to finish the season on a high!

Our visitors have lost 5 out of their last 6 away games, halting that run with a creditable 2-2 draw and faltering Billericay. Because of their poor overall record this year, they now sit 9th having blown any chance of making the play-offs they had this season.

Town will be keen to put right the last gasp 4-3 defeat at the Mauice Rebak staduim, after leading 3-1 at half time http://www.lowestofttownfcfansforum.co.uk/cgi-bin/Forum/YaBB.pl?num=1517162793

There is another supporters coach being organised for Dorking away on the 28th by Steve so if you're interested let him or Del Ayers know tomorrow night and they'll give you more details if they have them.

Come on you blues!!

Kick off delayed until 8pm, accident on M25 delayed the Wingate team.

FT: Lowestoft Town 1-1 Wingate and Finchley Att; 353

Overall a creditable draw with both sides having their fair share of chances and both goalkeepers dealing with whatever was put their way. The visitors took the lead following a quick break a through pass sliced through the town defence allowing a relatively straight forward tap in only after 6 minutes. Two minutes later Armani Schaar broke through with the ball into the penalty area and was brought down, the ref having no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Travis steps up and puts the ball into the bottom corner. Later on in the first half an off the ball incident between Bammo and the Wingate skipper (some people who saw it say a headbutt) saw the visitors reduced to 10 men as the ref again showed now hesitation in flashing his red card.

For the rest of the game town couldn't make the extra man count and couldn't find a clinical way of breaking down the visitors defence. Not to say we played badly at all, some good performances from Batlokwa, Eagle, Hood and Schaar who himself seems to be settling in very nicely. Another battling display from Fisk who went the game without a booking, with only Smith finding his way into the refs book for the home side. At the back Travis and Rory held firm to keep the visitors at bay and Elvijs pulled off a couple of good saves to keep the visitors out.

In all a decent entertaining game to watch, a tad disappointing attendance but most maybe saving the pennies for the final home game this Saturday when we welcome Tonbridge.

The Blues responded to securing step 3 safety by playing with freedom and, once more, commitment an passion. At times it looked like the freedom from anxiety was overplayed as there was a lot of sloppy, misdirected passing, particularly from our mid field. Still I am happy with a point, maybe the Blues will sign off the home season with a win against Angels on Saturday.
