A trip to the leaders New Splodge stadium on Tuesday evening.

So much has been written about the Essex outfit since the 'steel magnate' Tamplins, takeover and I won't rake over old ground....for those that have been living on Mars for the past 10 months or so much of the story can be viewed here....http://www.lowestofttownfcfansforum.co.uk/cgi-bin/Forum/YaBB.pl?num=1502301973/0

I'm not sure how many times this fixture has been postponed but thanks to our hosts progress in various cup competitions and weather related problems it must be nearing record proportions. Previous thread....

Our record v BillnRicky.......
6 wins / 2 draws / 1 defeat.
They recorded their only victory against us early on this season..

21/09/10      Billericay - Lowestoft Town      1 : 3

They recently dispensed with the services of their long standing groundsman, always a thankless task at the Splodge.
Despite the ££££s that were spent on the pitch the 'damp patch' persists and may yet allow the weather to intervene on Tuesday.

Should the game get the go ahead then we can expect a tough encounter. Their squad is good enough to be successful at National  League level and despite the departures of a couple of big names they remain a formidable outfit.

If Robinson (40) or Cuddington (24) have an off night they will still have Bricknell to call on from the bench. Between the three they have scored 79 in all competitions!

They are prone to leak a couple at the back, as Met Police proved on Saturday, grabbing a point in a 2-2 stalemate.

I would hope that we can go one better tomorrow evening but in all likelihood the home side should have enough about them to secure the points.

Billericay preview;

https://www.billericaytownfc.co.uk/lowestoft-come-town/

According to Twitter, BT sport cameras will be at the match and talking to fans for a documentary, rather than televising the game itself.

Luke Rooney has also signed for them in the last 24 hours.

Hoping for an upset but if offered a point now, i'd take it!

FT: Billericay Town 5-0 Lowestoft Town Att; 643.

After keeping it down to 1-0 by half time, the goals rained down in the second half causing town to drop to 20th due to poorer goal difference.

This weekend is a must win/must not lose...

I didn't make it due to the M25 being closed at Loughton. I might have made the last 20 minutes but decided to turn for home (via the local boozer for a swift one). Have to await Rons report...no doubt posted in the wee small hours.

For those of a nervous disposition read no further.

Tonight we were awful.

We knew it wasn't going to be an easy outing but we just didn't have it within us to go toe to toe with the leaders. We surrendered what little possession of the football we had and allowed the home side to dominate the game.

The New Lodge pitch lived up to its billing, as the Splodge. After a day's rain and an early evening drizzle it resembled a ploughed field redolent of Derbys infamous Baseball ground pitch in the 70s. Much more needs to be done to bring this most essential part of the ground up to an acceptable standard. Doubtless a 4G pitch will be dropped in sometime in the future.

However the close season investment in facilities has certainly worked, providing spectators with an unrivalled choice of food and drink at this level, topped off with spotlessly clean, sparkly granite walled, toilets. The last time I saw that decor package was back in the 80s. Disco seems still to be king in this part of Essex.

All four sides of the ground are now covered with new 6 tier terracing behind each goal and a low five tiered all seater stand running the length of the pitch opposite the main clubhouse.
The hastily added new stands and seats sparkled under the floodlights and the 30' outside bar was doing brisk trade before the off.
Although having a Lego type feel to it the New Lodge is certainly a step up from what it was on our last happier visit. It will certainly serve the club well for the next decade or two. All credit when it's due. Well done Mr Tamplin, now sort out the playing surface.

You will note that I haven't mentioned the game........this will be a short report.

Keep it tight for the first fifteen minutes is an adage that has served football clubs at every level well over the years. Brooksy will be very dissapointed at the way we didn't and allowed Sam Deering to find space in the box and fire home inside three minutes. Heads didn't drop though, well not until the second half, and Hodd and Eagle both provided through balls that Reed chased down. Indeed Reed managed to evade both centre backs and latch on to yet another through ball and poke home from 6 yards, after ten minutes. Sadly the linos flag saw that one chalked off and that was as good as it got. Not one further shot on target all evening!!!

The second half saw us under relentless pressure and a procession of goals followed.
An unmarked Waldren started the rout. Firing in from the edge of the box from a corner pass only four minutes after the restart. We were caught cold and wanting again 👎!!!

We kept making the wrong decisions throughout the second period and we looked a beaten and tired outfit long before the next onslaught put the game beyond us.

Bricknell added the third on the hour mark and minutes later Deering doubled his tally. Robinson got in on the act after some neat passing through us and that was that.
We didn't trouble their keeper all night and we managed just one corner in each half.
Allowing our hosts 60% of the ball throughout the game we got what we deserved.
A thoroughly dissapointing evening.

Plumstead Blue got snarled up in M25 problems and didn't make the game as a result. For him and others that couldn't make the trip, you saved yourself both hard earned ££££s and the pain of seeing us outplayed all over the park.

No balls out of ground
643 in attendance

You might notice from Shirley's photos that the only unmuddied player on the pitch was the Billericay goalkeeper.
At half-time I was quite happy.
I wish the match (match?) had finished then.
The person I was standing next to kept saying things like "2-0's not bad, at least it's not 3-0, that would be terrible........" and at 5-0 left the ground.
