This weekend sees the visit of Harlow in their second visit to the Amber Dew Events ground this season. That FA Cup second qualifying round encounter ended in a disastrous 1-0 defeat and with it Lowestoft's hopes of a FA cup run.

FA Cup Lowestoft 0-1 Harlow match thread (yes 3 pages worth);

Near the start of the season (in what is known as summer where the weather is warm and sunny unlike today), town visited Essex and came away with nothing after a 2-0 defeat.

In light of the above, this weekend the Trawlerboys will be hoping for a reversal in fortunes, with a new manager in control and a rejuvenation in form and to quite simply get back into business after a weather and cup competition enforced match postponements from the last 2 weekends. Last time we all gathered at the meadow and watched a game was the 3-1 against Leatherhead on Nov. 21st!

It must also be said that we must fancy our chances against a side that has a dismal away record, losing all 7 of the last 8 away league games and letting in 26 goals in the process. Harlow sit 22nd with 21 points, 6 places and 4 points behind the Trawlerboys.

Lets hope training has kept the players sharp during this matchless 3 weeks and we fly out of the traps come kick-off. Another 3 points on Saturday will put some more 'daylight' between us and the foot of the table.

Come on you blues!!

EDP preview; http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/lowestoft-town/lowestoft-town-v-harlow-town-preview...

Loan deals for Cotton and Foy extended for another 28 days.

Looks like a decent day for the game, no frozen pitch, rain or excessive wind (meteorologically speaking).

Referee was shocking in her decisions for both sides but it didn’t affect the result, which we can have no arguments with.
We were never in the game at any point and it was clear after just fifteen minutes that the set-up wasn’t going to work in this particular match. Our wing-backs were getting pinned back and that was leaving us very narrow with the three in the middle. Who themselves we’re always going to be ineffective with two wingers being asked to play a central midfield role alongside Fisk.
Frustrating and puzzling that it took us going 2-0 down to make any sort of change to our shape or personnel. A very disappointing afternoon and we get exactly what we deserved. Let’s hope we can rejuvenate ourselves for Boxing Day.
Happy Christmas everyone  Smiley

There cannot be a word in any language to describe this abject excuse for a team on a football pitch, abysmal, degrading, discusting may be a start. Nobody stood out in a very poor display, at home, against a team 3rd bottom in the league. Relagation is still a possibility, the trip to Worthing takes on significant importance for the Blues. As in the Met game the same female referee was appalling, she would do everybody a favour if she resigned her badge. A reasonable crowd in the circumstances but many will decide not to return if this is what has to be watched. In a poor team performance I will single out Bammo as the worst player on the park, could not complete a pass over any distance, 2 yards or 10, must have had lead in his boots as he failed to make any competitive aerial challenge and was pedestrian all afternoon. I cringe at what Leiston will do to us.

FT; Lowestoft 0-3 Harlow
Att 393

https://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/match/isthmian-football-league-premier-divisi...

Following my positive preview at the start of this thread, I find myself with my fingers burnt somewhat! Harlow ripped up the form book and were handed an early Christmas present of 3 points on a plate whilst the home side took the Christmas stuffing.

What on earth have the club been doing these last 3 weeks? Has any training sessions been happening? I know there must have been but it clearly was a waste of time as 393 attendees witnessed a lethargic, lackluster and rusty team performance, personally one of the worst torturous 90 minutes of football I've seen in my 8 years of watching. Overall the game was very scrappy and Harlow were often first to any loose ball as the home side struggled to string together more than 2 or 3 passes in a row. In return we seemed to have very little to offer - it was like we'd gone back in time by 2-3 months.

Late on there was a loss in composure by both sides and after the usual handbags, both teams found themselves down to 10 with an extra yellow, quite needlessly. Harlow number 4 saw red overall over the course of the game it was deserved with his reckless antics, play acting and whinging trying to get other players into trouble.

Plenty to work on before the up coming games at Leiston and Worthing plus hopefully something better to show to the home faithful come New Years Day against Brightlingsea Regent.
